Jonnie's Story
Life
My life in a nutshell: Left Nelson at the end of Gr. 11, 1962 to move back to Vancouver, finished school there and immediately started working. Married twice, first in June 1967, second in Feb. 1974, which moved me to Nanaimo on the Island and produced my beautiful daughter Jaime in Nov. 1975. We all moved to Ft. St. John in 1978 so my husband could go into business with his best friend. We lived there until the Spring of 1983 when we moved back to Nanaimo. My husband and I divorced about a year later and I've been single ever since. I tried the dating thing for a few years and then just decided if there's someone out there for me, we'll meet when the time is right.
I've held down many different jobs over the years, (see below) doing a variety of things and enjoyed most of them but being a foster Mom to teen girls for 25 yrs. made me the happiest of all. Many of my girls have remained part of my family and have gone on in life to make me proud. I am now retired....
My daughter Jaime is my pride and joy......of course! She and her partner live in Victoria, which is only an hour and a half from here, works at a corporate job and is a health & fitness coach. My Mom passed away in July 2000, my Dad passed in Nov. 2011 and my baby brother Colin passed away at 59, in Dec. 2015. My other brother Barrie lives here as well and has 2 grown sons.
For those of you who have never been to Vancouver Island you should really come and check it out.....it's one of the most beautiful places to live. I haven't been over to the mainland in years and have no desire to at all.
I've met up with a few others from Nelson here and we have brunch together several times a year and the group is growing as time goes on....
February 28, 2021 I had a bad fall and dislocated & broke both ankles....Expand for more
Was in hospital for 2 months (April 29th) and now on November 19th I'm still recovering. I don't recommend this to anyone... Lol I've been walking pretty well for months but still have pain/discomfort in my feet and they'll never be the same again but I dealing with it.
Ciao for now,
Jonnie 💕

School
I went to Hume Elementary from Gr. 3-6 and Miss Hopwood was without a doubt my favourite teacher, she went on to marry Mr. Todd. I always thought she was sooooo pretty. The teacher I disliked the most was Gr. 5, Miss Smith, she embarrassed me along with many of her students but I have to admit she probably had the biggest impact on me.
My craziest time at school was initiation day going into Gr. 10 at L.V. Rogers. It was a master/slave thing and Harry James was my Master and although as a newbie to High School and having this happening I was pretty nervous, he ended up being a great Master and didn't embarrass me "too" much.
I always seemed to have a crush on someone in high school (must have been that hormone thing) ;o)) but mostly I hung out with my few close friends and some of the local Car Club guys that were out of school.
