Joseph C.'s Story
Life
Hi all,
As you might notice my pictures got installed in the reverse order. I lived in Dundas when I attended Olney High School during the years of 1949/50. I was a member of the freshman BB and track team, Rifle Club, and was a worker in the big annual school Pow Wow event. What great memories!
Before starting my sophomore year, my parents moved to Phoenix, AZ, where I attended Phoenix Union High School in my sophmore through senor years.
What a difference for me. A small town guy, going from a high school that was all in one block with maybe 400 students, to start attending a new high school that had a 3 acres campus with different buildings for each of the major studies, much like a college campus. My '53 graduation class alone had 450 members.
I attend Phx College for a year and the next year attended ASU, where I became a member of Phi Sigma Kappa.
Then I got married and started working at the First N...Expand for more
ational Bank downtown. Then I advanced myself by starting to work for the Mountain States Telephone on McDowell Rd near Central. In my next move, I started working in the computer department at APS where I help maintain their big Univac computer. After being there a couple years, I left and was hired by the GE Computer Division on Black Canyon Hi-way.
They were hiring people to train and maintain their new computers being sold throughout the US. After the six months training, I received my orders that I and my family was being sent to the northeast US, to big GE's Main Plant in Schenectady, NY.
So after a great career of customer service maintaining computers and traveling allot, I'm retired, single and still living in upstate NY. I do often think about moving back to Phoenix or better Scottsdale someday. Or maybe back to my original hometown of Olney, IL.
