Joshua's Story
Life
After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I majored (big surprise) in Theatre. While in school, I met Karen McVeigh, and the two of us formed a comedy team. We spent most of the '80s performing all over North America as "Mandel & McVeigh" -- we were the house comedy act at the Playboy Club in Chicago, among other places.
During this time, Karen got married, and once she got pregnant, we could no longer tour. I worked in advertising in Chicago for a brief period, and was then hired by Sierra On-Line in Oakhurst, California as a computer game producer. Within a year, I'd been promoted to ...Expand for more
Director of Product Design, and spent four years there designing and writing computer games.
Once Sierra started becoming much larger and more fragmented (and a lot less fun!), I went to Legend Entertainment in Virginia, and, from there to Sega of America where I was Director of Game Design.
Now I do game design by contract out of my home in Albany, New York. I also work with a local professional theater company as time permits. But most of my time is spent with my wife, Laura (a nurse whom I met here in Albany) and our daughter, Natalie, born Sept. 9, 2005 (yes, I'm getting a very late start on this fatherhood thing).
