Joy's Story
Life
Been to Phoenix and back (the old geographical cure). Have retired from more careers than most people have in their lifetime. Ready to start something new. Ready to sell the business and go back to school. Still haven't answered the question as to what I would want to be if I grow up.
UPDATE:
I can't believe that I actually sold the business building and exited the party decorations business. Started a new venture with long-time friends Lisa and Tom Merlin. We bought a franchise: HomeHelpers of Northeastern Illinois. We place non-medical, in-home caregivers in our client's home, whereever they call home. mes, where they will thrive in the environment in which they are most comfortable.
My parents have passed on and I wish that I had access to the type of services that we provide with HomeHelpers. I would have loved to have brought in a companion, even if just for maybe 5 to 20 hours a week to help with the light housekeeping, fix a meal, just carry on a different conversation, give my dad a break.
If any of you have parents or loved ones in the northeast Cook or eastern Lake county areas, we would be glad to talk to you. We can't help my parents, but maybe we can help take the burden off a family caregiver and pay it forward. HomeHelpers.cc (as in Competent Care)
