Life When I finished High School I went to work for Lawson and tried to further my education but just could not make ends meet so I joined the Army. Left Ohio and went to Fort McClellas AL. Basic training was ok. I remember Oct of 63 when President Kenndy was shot. We were all sure we would be going to war with Russia. Happy time at Fort McClellan as well as sad and heart breaking. When basic was finished I was shipped to Fort Gordon GA for signal training. Oh how we party on the weekends. Marched to class each day come rain or shine. The person in charge of us could not remember a command and we marched thru muddy water that was almost up to our knees. The guys loved it since we had to hick us our skirts to make it thru.
