Jr.'s Story
I am from a family of 11 children with 4 sisters and 2 brothers older than me. I attended school in Waynoka, but started too young and didn't want to go to school. My birthday is Aug. 15, and today I would not have been allowed to start. I repeated the first grade. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. I made all A's in grade school and was able to do well in school because I was one of the oldest in class. I got my driver's lisence before anyone else and also my car.
I went to college, majoring in music. That is also where I met my wife, Marjorie. We were married in 1962 and have had a great life together. We have three daughters, Vicki, Rhonda and Timarie. Vicki is a CEO, Rhonda is a teacher, and Timarie is a Vet.
I quit smoking and drinking in 1962 which has been a great thing for me. I have accomplished more than I thought I would ever be able to do. I directed the EUB church choir while in college and became a Christian and a regular member of the United Methodist Church. I have been very involved with the Church and Church music all my adult life.
My professional career could not have been better. I had great bands and choirs and arrived at the top of the profession. Major awards in music are the Band Masters Hall of Fame and The Oklahoma Music Educators Hall of Fame and I am a member of both.

ic contests for the state of Oklahoma. I also set up all the Speech Tournaments. I retired and have managed the Tri-State Music Festival for the past 5 years. Go to TriStateMusicFestival.com for more info.
I have gotten overweight and have very little hair.
I am proud of my classmates and Waynoka. Many of you have been an encouragement to me. Jo Clampitt was my accompanist when I went to contest. Her mother would take me to the contest sometimes. I sang in a male quartet with Lowell Whitney, Kirk Johnson and Rex Olsen. I also sang in a mixed quartet with Lou Ann Hobbs, Pat Day and Kirk Johnson. All was a good experience.
Responding to the "Story Idea", what I think would surprise everyone is that I was born with 6 fingers on each hand. I had an extra little finger. The doctor snipped them off. I have the scars to prove it. When my first daughter was born, that's the first thing I checked was her hands.
Also, I was probably the first streaker in our class. When I was about 3, I woke up one morning and couldn't find anyone in the house. They were all out at the milk barn, but I didn't know. I only knew I was scared. I walked to my aunt's house a mile away. Why was I naked? Don't remember for sure. I either took my jammies off or slept with nothing on.
I think about my classmates often and have a great feeling about them. I am looking forward to seeing them June 28 and 29th.
