Judith's Story

High School: I was pretty much a wall flower; very shy and quiet! Had a small handful of really close friends. I have two sisters Lois, who is 5 yrs older and Linda who is 18 mos younger. Lois lives in Texas and Linda passed away April 19, 2020, in Crossville, Tennessee. Since our parents are in heaven now we don't visit very often. Life after High School: I married 1/69 and lived in Tilden, IL. Had two children, Reggie (11/70) and Camey (5/72). We moved to Sparta, IL in 1975 and bought a farm in the country where my kids could run and play, climb trees, ride horses, whatever. We had a third child, Jackie (1/81). I was a stay at home mom (and I loved it), Girls in Action Director at church, little league baseball scorekeeper and coaches helper, cheering parent for little league baseball, band, basketball, 4-H events, volunteered to help at the school/church, bowling on Friday mornings, clerk at weight watchers, sold Avon and cleaned houses for extra spending money when the kids were in school. Divorced after 20 yrs 4/89 and moved home with my Dad in Belleville (3/88 - took a year to finalize the divorce). My Mom passed away 11/87 after 3 yrs of really poor health. Dad was alone; I needed him and he needed me. I began my college and work life. I have to say that college was the key that opened the doors to a good job, better self-esteem, and improved my life tremendously. I worked with Government Contractors, and the YMCA. Remarried 9/90 to Maj Avery Morris and we are still on our honeymoon!! We moved to Little Rock, AR; Hampton, VA; Belleville, IL; Choctaw, OK; and now Byron, GA. Avery retired from USAF as Lt Col in 1997. We have 5 children total (3 are mine and 2 are his), 19 grandchildren!! and 9 Great grandchildren with #10 in the oven!! Our kids are scattered to IL, AL, and FL so we don't see the kids or the grandkids enough. The COVID19 virus kept me from traveling to see my kids, and now Belinda's dementia would...Expand for more
make it very difficult to travel. My Hero was my Dad, a Christian man of Integrity and hard work - he was always helping someone. He would grow a half acre garden and give the food away! especially to the needy. He passed away in 5/04 at 80 yrs old. The timing was fitting as it was Memorial Day weekend and he had a full military funeral. Awesome memory for his grandchildren and great grandkids too. I really miss him. College: Yes!! I Finally Got It! Took me 15 years, but I got that Bachelors Degree in Management w/CIS!! Graduated Cum Laude from Park University, Parkville, MO 2004. They have satellite colleges at several military bases. Thank you to Coach Brown for your words of wisdom, "You don't have to be a genius to get a college degree - you just have to be determined." Determination I do have and the degree was set as my goal. I was diagnosed with breast cancer April 2020. They caught it very early and I just had to do radiation therapy. Thank you Jesus!! Currently: Proud to have been a military brat, my Dad was in the USAF, a military Wife, a military Mom, and now a military Grandma. Aug 2022 - Well, I've decided to venture out and about but still being very cautious due to COVID19 and the Flu!! No hugs, handshakes or even fist pumps. Just no touching. We are still caring for Avery's sister, Belinda who turned 57 years old this March 2022, (she has Downs Syndrome complicated with Alzheimer's). Avery has retired from Government Contracting and now does volunteer work at our church. I am once again a stay at home "Mom" as Avery's mother has passed away and Belinda lives with us. She used to be a sweetheart - this Alzheimer's has her very grumpy and uncooperative. I do have fun selling/buying on eBay and learning about antique toys. I like maintaining a pretty yard, doing a veggie garden and learning about new flowers to decorate the yard. Joined a garden club and enjoy helping to beautify our community.
