Judith's Story

I was raised Catholic in a Polish, Catholic, career Navy, Chief Petty Officer's Family with all girls. In my early life, our family was moved every two years and we finally settled in Jacksonville, Florida. I graduated 8th grade at St.Matthew's Catholic School in 1970 and went to Bishop Kenny High School where I graduated in 1974. I participated in high school athletics on the Swim Team. I joined Randy Reese Swim Team and practiced at Episcopal High School before and after school. I think this is why my hair was always green. After graduation, I received my AA from University of South Florida and swam with The Lady Brahman's for two years until 1976. I graduated college at University of Florida in 1978 receiving a BA in Political Science. I concentrated on Constitutional law and issues in Public Administration. Randy Reese had become the Head Coach for University of Florida's Swim Team and I became a team member. I am a member of the "F Club" at the University of Florida which is an alumni association of former Gator Greats and Letterwinners and we vote to determine who enters into the Universities "Hall of Fame" . In 1978 when I graduated, President Jimmy Carter endured 17% interest rates which caused the economy to usher in Reaganomics shifting the burdens of Government revenue to the Middle class by eliminating deductions for regular people and giving tax breaks to businesses, establishing the theory of "trickle down economics". Upon graduation, I had to create my own job. I got a Real Estate License and sold real estate until I got married in 1980 and moved to the Atlanta area for my husband to attend professional school at Life Chiropractic College, now known as Life University. We returned to Florida and after getting his License to practice, decided to move to Sarasota, after just seeing the beach on Siesta Key. Our family moved to Sarasota and started to learn how to RUN a practice, because they don't teach you that stuff. After working for 2 years with a local chiropractor, we branched off to start our own practice. Through some creative resources we began our business with $800.00 in the bank. I got to be the front desk girl, the insurance biller, the therapy assistant, accounts payable, account receivable manager, do all the paperwork and clean the bathrooms. After 2 years of this, my wonderful husband had to hire 3 people to take over some of my responsibilities because there would be no ONE person willing to do all of that ...Expand for more
by themselves. Go Figure. I got a Florida license as a basic x-ray machine operator and my continuing education included Skeletal Pathology, CT, MRI and Mammography. In 1992 I decided to go to The Sarasota School of Massage Therapy and was licensed to practice in 1993. When my husband became ill, we were forced to close the office and convert to a Home Visit Business with help, encouragement, tenderness and incredible generosity from some of our former patients. Without this community, WE would never have made it. My husband is recovering well and I have discerned a new mission for our future. It is my mission to create a network of healthcare providers, business leaders and entrepreneurs in Sarasota as a resource to heal, inspire, mentor and facilitate opportunities for Veterans in America and their families to create businesses for themselves that they design for themselves. Our government cannot solve our problems. WE THE PEOPLE need to solve our own problems on a local level so that we all can lead America's Renaissance to inspire the entire world. The belief system that American's HAD, based on faith in honesty and integrity of our society has forever been changed. We all have to realize that we need to work together to REBUILD our country by eliminating the fear in our country right now. Go to my Facebook page called "viagroupinfo" which stands for Veterans in America Group Information service to join this nationwide effort to rebuild our communities from the ground up. It was Mrs. Obama's plea to healthcare providers for volunteer time to help with the overwhelming burdens put upon the Veterans Administration that has inspired me to think outside the box. In my private practice, I work for myself 4 days a week at my office and devote Wednesday's to home visits. On Saturday's I give 8 FREE thirty minute clinical massage treatments, that includes Rehabilitative exercises, Swiss ball exercises to improve core body strength and Neuromuscular Re-Education utilizing Balance Boards and medicine balls to improve balance and proprioception (body perception). I also incorporate Art and Music to access more sensory interconnections. Artists come and teach and musicians come to teach and entertain. Veterans and their families are required to report at 9am and stay until 1pm on common ground. Partners in this volunteer effort will provide for the needs of the entire family as the needs are determined in a social atmosphere of comradery.
