Judith's Story

Life Hello my friends of yore, Classmates is a cool site just seeing your names there and remembering the good (and not so good) times we had passing through the 40's, 50's and 60's. Since I'm still considering being a golden member of this site I haven't a clue what is up with you other than the few of you I keep up with....like the Garden Homes reunion folks. We actually had a 50th reunion in the glories of Wisconsin. The Holy Angels gang has merged with the Devine Savior Krew (that's how the New Orleans locals say "crew" and is acturally a group of Mardi Gras revelers who party all year long. I know that as I lived there for a few years). Who would have thought that would have happend and that our beloved alma mammy is now a parking lot. Anyone remember Sister Mary Agustus? God love her, she is the one who said she would pray for me when I announced that I would be attending UW. She must have made good on her promise as I actually graduated and went on to get a masters after 30 years of wishing I had done it sooner than age 50. Those 30 years between took me to Texas, Ga, Fla and La where I managed to lose the Milwaukee twang, have five children and discover that their dear daddy had other plans for the rest of his life other than growing old together. Where was Sr. M Agustus then? Guess she was...Expand for more
up on her cloud spouting Latin proverbs as that was the time a kindly judge awarded me rehabilitative alimony (a nice way of saying suck it up and get on with life and get your butt back in school). Wow, that was nothing like the days of sorority parties and breaks at the Tux. With a little help from my friends and a kindly doctor who treated my stress I came to be a member of the gainfully employed as a psychiatric social worker in a little town in La. Now I'm a member of the not so gainful Social Security krew, am married to a really swell guy who is still a member of the working faithfuls who goes to Africa to bring home the bacon for a month at a time and then is home for a month. (Home being in Lafayette La.) We have an RV and hit the road to Fla in the winters and spend the summers in Breezy Point Mn. (now that's cool..... compared to Lafayette in the summer). Ofcourse I have a pack of grandkids who are naturally brilliant and good looking...I'm sure you guessed that so I won't dwell on it. I'll simply say thank you to all of you who have touched my life and made my journey to the new world of computers and cell phones a pleasant one. Maybe one day I'll become a gold member and you can all get in touch I'd love to hear from you. Be happy and savor the memories of the days of yore. Your old pal, Judy
