Judy's Story
Life has been good to me. I married in 1962 after going off to college. I have 4 children: Dayna, 44; Darren, 42; Deena, 38; and Jaime, 31. And I have 7 grandchildren: 6 grandsons (22, 10, 3.5 and almost 2 years old and 1 grandaughter almost 2 years old - the latter two being twins).
I was a stay-at-home mom until my last child entered kindergarten - then I worked part-time and was home when all the kids returned from school.
I Love, Love being a grandma. My little grandchildren are the cutest things and they love me making brownies and cookies for them - and I have a couple of super recipes. I have taught all but the last two (not old enough - their turn is coming) how to make the cookies - that is a fun activity when they come to visit.
After leaving Houston I moved to Provo, Utah where I went to college for a short time. So I have lived in Utah and Idaho. My husband is from Idaho so we spent the first few months of our marriage there until college started up again and then we moved to Provo where he was completing his Bachelors Degree. I worked for a CPA firm - had a great job working with 7 accountants and I was the only girl in the office so I took car...Expand for more
e of all their work - tax time was an especially stressful time. Those were the days before computers.
In 1995 my husband (branch manager for a bank in Logan, Utah - we had been there for 28 years) retired and we moved to points south to try and stay warm. We lived in St. George, Utah (just about 1.5 hours away from Vegas). We loved it there and being so close to Vegas was good for entertainment. I worked as an office manager for a Chiropractic office and then moved on to work in Administration as an Executive Secretary for a hospital there in St. George - more money and better benefits.
After our grandson died in 2006, we decided to go back up to northern Utah - specifically back to Provo, Utah where we started out which means we went full circle in 46 years of marriage. We felt we needed to be closer to our family. We live in Orem, Utah and love where we are living. We love being around our kids and grandkids and being an influence in their lives.
I am retired now as of January 26, 2008 and lovin' life. We are trippin' around and have a Panama Canal Cruise planned for November 29, 2008. Life is good but I miss all my friends in Texas - still the best state.
