Julianne's Story

Life I've been living in Orlando Florida since 1978, the same year I married. If you do the math, you'll quickly calculate I was a teenage bride. Somehow back in the 70's that wasn't so taboo. Yet I'm happy to report that Jeff and I have been married going on 29 years. Folks recently took out their calculators when in 2003 I celebrated my big 40 just a week before celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. What's the secret to a long and happy marriage they ask? I have no clue actually. But if I had to guess I'd theorize that it's less about trust and love...blah blah and more about having a sense of humor, willingness to compromise, and the ability to renagotiate our contract periodically. One of the benefits to marrying an older man is that I'll probably out live him. I currently work for Charles Schwab as a Senior Operations Specialist and have been with the company since 1997. Previously I worked in Tourism for almost 20 years which included 3 years as an Embassador for the Canadian Pavillion at Walt Disney's Epcot Center. My husband Jeff is an independant contractor for an elite transportation company that specializes in Corporate and Entertainment Industry clients. This can range from the CEO of IBM playing golf at 2 in the afternoon to a 2 in the morning private pick for Justin Timberlake. He was also fortunate enough to provide private transportation for the scheduled entertainers during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Currently he is semi-retired but still provides meet and greet / transport services for N'Sync's annual charity event "Challenge For The Children" which is held every summer. He was a Bell Captain when we first met and immediately began a career catering to celebrities which first began with a gig as Mic Jagger's "go to man" in 1982 during his week long stay while preforming in Orlando. This also allowed us the priviledge of being able to attend "The Who's" final concert backstage at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Ah, the 80's or ...Expand for more
as some call , the Reagen years. Either way, we had no kids and cash in our back pockets back then. Yes, I'm very nostalgic and yes I brag about my husband too much, I have no shame. Geez, even our teenage son lives through him and tries to get dates by saying his dad can get them an autograph from Usher. And yes, at 54, the old man knows who all these young entertainers are. His IPOD includes quite the genre of tunes. Track 1 is the Beatles, Track 2 is M&M or Sean John. To top it off he even can sing along. It's quite the site. We have a 17 year old son Jacob who will be turning 18 on New Year's Eve 2006. The countdown is on. Still not sure what will change after this milestone event occurs. Either he'll be set to move out and I'll have his bags packed or we'll begin construction on the garage apartment in early 2007. I have decided I do want grandchildren yet I'm not sure who will partner with this boy to provide me with this reward. I'm currently preparing a draft for an E-Bay advertisement in an attempt to pawn him off to the highest bidder with no reserve. I'll be sure to add certain extras like the fact that he does have a job, has been known to bathe periodically, and can live on chicken nuggets and mountain dew. Yet his potential mate will have to have a love and knowledge of all things Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars. Do I hear $20. Going once, going twice... This web site has allowed me to reconnect with alot of classmates and friends from my childhood for which I'm extremely grateful. It's something I never thought could be possible afer moving away so young and so long ago. Who would have thought that such technology would be at our fingertips years down the road. Most of us still remember when touch tone phones first came on the scene and the # and * keys were still a mystery. I look forward to re-connecting with additional old friends that I grew up with in Brampton along with friends from the church I attended, Bramalea Baptist.
