Julie's Story
Life
Hey everyone! :-)
So the category is "Life"...Mine has been pretty interesting! It seems like after high school, everyone scattered like marbles and I lost contact with so many :-(
I graduated with my BScN from Ryerson, and went to Louisiana to work (temporarily!). The whole 'temporary' thing didnt work out...and I have been living and working in the U.S. ever since.
Married in my late teens, for 10 yrs, then divorced. Have a beautiful son (Alek) from that marriage. Now I've been married for 11 or 12 (wow, I forget!), and have 3 awesome girls. We have excellent family reunions when I can get everyone down to the deep south!
After living in LA for a year, my husband and I moved to Houston, TX and then further south to Galveston. We fell in love with Galveston, and lived there for many years. We were then fortunate enough to experience life in the Caribbean for a couple of years, then Ireland, and now we're in North Carolina. We enjoy it here, but its not permanent (we do want to go back to Galveston, and the Caribbean - on a sailboat this time!).
I am working on two masters programs at this time, and not working. (Masters in Nursing, and another in Healthcare Administration). Alot of work, but worth it. My husband is a doctor and wants to open his own practice - I figured my work will coincide with his goals nicely.
Alek lives and works in Ontario. He makes routine visits which I go nuts over - can never wait to see him! The 'girls' are Charlotte, Vanessa and Olivia. They are all in the talented and gifted programs here, are being 'tracked' by Duke, and were nominated for an Art Academy which they enjoy. Can you tell I'm a proud 'Mama' ??!!
I would love to hear from any and all of you - whether or not we 'hung out' in school! Its all good!!
I cant begin to count the number of times I received emails or some form of advertising from Classmates - so I finally 'bit it' and did it, to see if it would really work to fin...Expand for more
d some old friends (old in the nicer sense of the word). So I'm heading back to my studies now...hope to hear from someone!!!
Hugs & Cheers,
Jules
School
I remember all of the teachers in the Languages department as being truly inspiring. I think its because I was born to travel and always loved different cultures and languages. Ms Auhn (sp?) was awesome, and that one with the long, red, curly hair and raspy voice? She was nuts and quirky, but funny and nice. I ended up doing two foreign exchanges (French & German) and loved every second of them. Maybe you remember my exchange students being at Thornlea? What a hoot.
My biggest crush ever was of course, Curtis Popovich, whom I was married to for 10 yrs. (I'm only answering the prompted questions listed above this typing box, hehe).
Funniest story? Ummmm....Maybe when me and a bunch of people whose names I cant remember - Ian something-er-other was one of them, thought we'd go to a school dance and have something to 'drink' beforehand. Ian had an Irish background, even spoke Gaelic, keep that in mind! So we're waiting in the lineup, and Ian is swaying. Principal pulls him out of line and I walk with them, into the office. He asks me if I'd been drinking: "no, sir". He asks Ian: "RALPH!" into the principals garbage can, and then passes out. I was allowed to leave, but Ian had to be fetched by his parents - not a good night for him! Hehe.
Happiest memories? Hmmmmm...I loved track and field, loved sprinting a whole lot, and really really enjoyed track meets. Got a thrill out of being cheered on by others while racing by at (what I like to think of as) the speed of light. Ha!
Craziest school memories? I think the thrill of feeling like an adult, and making attempts here and there to skip classes and just go sit in the jungle area playing cards. How cool is THAT? nuts...I was stupid maybe, but I felt so adult-like. Man, did life show me how wrong I was, haha. I was such a dork!
