Julie's Story

Life After graduating from Granger I attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. I had a wonderful time down there and soon graduated with my Associate Degree having studied Geology. While there, I continued to play my clarinet and danced with the Ballroom Dance Club as a member and then as president. A few months after graduating from Snow College I left on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was called to the Belgium Brussels Mission and spent my time in Belgium and France. It was one of the best and hardest times of my life. While in France I met and became friends with a fellow missionary. One month after I came home to the USA, he called me up. He was raised in Connecticut but was attending BYU. One week after that call we had our first date. Three weeks later he proposed to me and two months later I married Jeff Robertson in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Jeff and I lived in Provo in a basement aprtment close to the BYU campus while he pursued his degree in Political Science. I attended UVSC because they gave me the federal financial aid to go with the scholarship compared to BYU who only gave me the scholarship. It was all about who would pay fully for me to go to school. Having gotten all the general classes out of the way at Snow I was able to focus on my Earth Science and French classes. I loved my time there. Jeff and I were happy and loving being married. In 2003 I became pregnant. I had only a few classes left in my Earth Science Composite Secondary Teaching degree and Jeff had a year until graduation. We moved up to West Valley City to help my mom who was having difficulty with her health. My sister had left on her LDS mission so my mom was alone. In October I have birth to our beautiful Clara. She has been a joy since we knew she was coming. She has changed our lives in ways unimaginable before and we would never change that. She has HUGE brown eyes and dark brown hair. e has a beautiful smile and a sparkle in her eyes. I have loved being her mom. At the time of this writing she is three years old. The following spring Jeff graduated from BYU with his Bachelor's Degree. That summer he got a job at Usana Health Sciences in the French department. I began going to the University of Utah at night to finish my own degree. Jeff has since moved up in the ranks at work, for which we are very grateful (more money of course!! and more opportunities), and has started his Master's of Urban Planning degree, also at the U of U. In 2005 I became pregnant again. That October I gave birth to our second beautiful daughter, Anna. She has beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair that sometimes looks red. She is so different from her sister in some ways and that makes my days very interesting and enjoyable. Anna also loves books and it is very adorable when Clara pulls Anna onto her lap and "reads" books to her. They love to play with each other but we, of course, deal with the regular stuff such as Clara yanking something she wants out of Anna's hands or Anna teasing Clara with something that is wanted. We deal with it. At the time of this writing Anna is over a year old, 15 months. Right now I am in well into my last semester of my degree. I am a student teacher at Hillcrest Junior High School in the Earth Science class. I teach ninth graders for the first four periods then recover and prepare for the next day during the last two periods. I will graduate the first week of May 2007 and I am estatic. I can't wait to be done!! I won't take a job once I gradute because I feel I can do more good as a stay at home mother for my girls. Raising my children to be good, honest, moral teeangers and adults is more important to me at this time. Besides, we want to have two more children. My life is great and I am very happy. Things are going well and I am looking forward to a wonderful and happy future with my family.
