June's Story
Well, to catch up on what I've been up to. After graduation I, of course, went to the Jr. college in Belleville for about a year where I learned to loosen up a bit. My Dad was transfered to Texarkana Ark. and I went with the family and did another year in the Jr. College there. Then we came to California. Since there were no colleges close by I did odd jobs for about a year then an opportunity arose for me to join Collins Radio as a full time person. So I moved to Santa Ana, lived with my Grandmother until I found an appartment. After my sister graduated she moved in with me. When Rockwell Int. bought out Collins I staid with them and continued to work. Sometime during my second year there I meet and started dating my now current husband. He taught me a lot about electronics. I worked myself (with his help and encouragement) into the...Expand for more
position of Electronic Tech. It was a bit difficult because they just didn't have any female tech. Myself and another woman broke that trend and after her and myself started they hired or promoted 3 other women. I worked at "Rockwell" for approximately 20 years before they closed down the California plant and moved everything to Texas, Iowa, Canada, and Utah. My husband (Tony) was offered a positioin in Texas but turned it down because of our daughters (both in high shcool at the time). After that I just did different types of jobs, mostly secretarial, for about 10 years. Now I help our daughters with their kids. Run a lot of errands for everyone to help out. Seems I'm more busy now than before. That's it in a nut shell. I could go on but I think less is more. Hope to be hearing from a few people. Love to all, June Allison Mihalick
