Karen's Story
Time for an update. My daughter is expecting again. The baby is another girl. Her first daughter Ava was 2 in June. She is brilliant...Knows all her alphabet, colors, shapes (even a "diamond"), and numbers up to 10. My other granddaughter Madeleine (son's little girl) will be 4 in November. She is playing soccer this summer. She loves to draw (not a surprise since my son and daughter-in-law are both architects) and also loves books as Ava does. We visitied in June but did not get to see any of her games. They started the day we left...wouldn't you know. We have received a lot of pictures that have been posted on an internet picture site. Wonderful technology.
I am still teaching middle school. I am a special ed teacher and will be team-teaching this year. I am also changing from science to language arts. This should be an eas...Expand for more
ier year...Last year I taught all three sciences in middle school in resource classes and nearly went nuts with all the preps (teachers will understand this).
My husband Ed is still doing remodeling. We would love to retire, but I guess we'll be working a few more years. I want to get in 10 years with my school. I changed careers at 50, and have also moved around with my career in education. This is my 10th year in teaching, but only my 4th at this school. Thankfully we are both fairly healthy. (At least after my hip replacement last June and his knee surgery in December.) We have a pool, and I spend a lot of my summer time "exercising" while school is out. This summer I have also spent a lot of time with Ava. I kept her while her parents were packing to move into a house so "Mimi" is really special to her....I love it....
