Karen's Story
Life
Bounced around majors at Oregon State before
graduating with a bachelor's in Physics. Married
Robert Plamondon while in school. We moved
down to Silicon Valley for the better jobs there,
and stayed 12 years, working at small
companies and large. After our sons Daniel
(1991) and Karl (1994) were born, we decided
we wanted to be back in Oregon. Found a
37-acre farm west of Corvallis, an...Expand for more

raising chickens for eggs and meat -- along with
sheep, goats, and turkeys -- and doing contract
technical writing. Being close to OSU has been
a real boon to our major career change. We've
read most of the applicable literature in the
Valley Library. We now know the Poultry Science
Department well, where my only knowledge of
them before was the crowing of the roosters at
night!
