Karen's Story
Hi everyone, WOW, this is a cool site. I saw this in our inbox for my husband and thought I'd try it for myself. Anyone remember me??? I am the lucky one of my family and got to change my last name! WOO HOO! I am a simple Karen Alexander now and I live in Alta Loma on a small ranch with my OLDER husband Mike--he's 62. I have two kids ages 17 and 19 who are the absolute delights of my life!! I taught elementary school for 11 years and wrote a couple of books for Teacher Created Materials and now I am just a mom. I homeschool my youngest now. Though I wasn't anything special in school, my daughter is incredibly intelligent. That amazes me! She's fun to work with.
I'm no longer the shy timid little thing you may remember me as (unless I am in a large group). Funny how we change as we age. Anyway, just wondering about my old classmates. You know I didn't graduate from Saddleback--I graduated from Edison because we moved to Huntington Beach at the end of my junior year, but I still consider Saddleback my home school. Now I'm way out near Cucamonga. It's very nice out here. Not so crowded, great church, and awesome places to shop. What more could a girl ask for??
Now a bit more about me:
I am a strong born again Christian.
I sell kid's clothes on eBay. My eBay id is soostinkincute (AFTER my kids, & the clothes; not ME!) Check out my ME page to see pics of my kids and more writing. You can contact me through my eBay site too, since I am NOT a gold member and cannot pick up any messages here. I am also an Amazon seller under the cool name of Stella...Expand for more
rStuff Seller.
I also have this small ranch and WISH I didn't! It's a childhood dream I am done with.
I absolutely love being with other people and doing things.
The last time I wrote this: "My best friend Cindy Butala and I are still in contact--if anyone remembers her from Taft Elementary or the Mc Fadden Jr high. She is a school psychologist in the Long Beach district, married a Philipino man and has two kids ages 9 and 6. She is running ragged, poor gal." I am sorry to say that Cynthia passed away a few years ago from cancer. She really was running ragged!!! My heart breaks for her and her family.
I also love being a stay at home mom and now I am a foster parent. We do infant care. That is a lot of hard, but precious work. While writing this, we have had our current placement, Isaiah, for almost 2 1/2 years! He is up for adoption right now. We will surely miss him and wish to remain in his life.
I am still creative, love writing, reading, scrapbooking and being a goof ball.
I am working on being a better parent, Christian, wife and making more friends. I am always learning and researching. Life can be better--you just have to work toward that goal. God is my guide and I take every opportunity given me to share His love, grace and joy with others. I am not perfect, but I sure try to be like my Jesus. He is my life!
Karen Alexander (I hated the name Gumpel, but I am proud of my German Jew heritage.)
By the way if you want to get ahold of me you can write to me at mikea at ace65.org.
