Karen M. 's Story
Life
Life has been very good to us these past 43 years. In 1968 I married Micky Fuoco. Mick was a good friend many years before we became serious. This August 10th we celebrate our 43th Anniversary.
Mick is a retired Police Officer from the town of Walpole Ma. He held a lucrative and fascinating job in Walpole as a police officer, going from patrol to detective in a few short years. He loved his work and was amazing at what he did. Mick followed in the shoes of his Grandfather Chief John J. Cahill of Dedham Ma. As did our eldest son who is also a Police Officer.
Mick & I have 2 sons. Kevin Michael Fuoco & Vincent Joseph Fuoco.
Kevin 36..My very serious Go getter, always on the move..Full of ambition & takes life very seriously
A graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth High School Class of 93. Cape Cod
He holds a Bachelor Of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University, Bristol, R.I.
Kevin is now a police officer, working in a town locally( Like his Dad & Great Grandfather).
Kevin met and married a wonderful girl from Cape Cod in 2001. Her name is Karen and we are thrilled to have her in our life.
Karen is a social worker. She works with handicapped and disabled Adults & Children.
Vincent our youngest is 28.. my kindred spirit..
Vinny is the one with the outgoing personality, full of fun, and laughter. Our home was always filled with his friends,
Vinny is a 2001 grad. of Dennis Yarmouth Regional H.S. on Cape Cod..After 2 years at Mass. College of Liberal Arts and 2 at Mass Bay Community College. He is now working in Investment Banking at State Street Bank as a Client Service Manager in Defined Contribution Services.
We moved back home in 2001 from Cape Cod to be closer to our son's. Both had left the Cape to pursue careers & finish school
Home is now Bellingham, Mass.
Ironically the very same town we began our life together after Mick's completion of military service.
In High school I think as an individual, people found me a bit on the withdrawn and snobby side. In fact it really was intense fear of what people thought of me, coupled with my shyness. Not anymore, I have found my voice and when necessary I use it.
I still maintain contact with a few of my friends from the days of High school...Expand for more
, one in particular that was recently renewed and will last a lifetime from this point on.
Mine and my husbands dream is simply to live a quiet life, do some traveling, preferably to my sisters in N. Miami Beach.
Spend lots of time enjoying our sons, our daughter in law, our future daughter in law Shelly, & of course grandchildren.
My one do over in my life would have been to spend more time with my Dad, after he and my Mom divorced.
Today, I share a strong and binding relationship with him.
He is 86 years old.
Sadly, For many years our paths went in different directions. But, since the beginning of the year 2000, I have been with him and by his side through a debilitating illness.
In my heart I believe my fight with him and for him has kept him from giving into this terrible disease. Most of all his amazing underlying strength.
This experience has given me a voice I never knew I had.
Study, research, relentless pursuit of new treatments, and advocacy for more government funding in stem cell research.
Ultimately it has benefited me, but more so my Dad. He continued to fight the good fight but the disease took him Nov 25, 2009. He will always be my hero, my best friend, and I will forever keep him in my heart. I miss him more than words can say.
In the words of Robert F. Kennedy:
"Some People See Things And Ask Why, I See Things And Ask Why Not."
This was my my goal for my Father and still is for all those I love.
Now I believe all we accomplished together in this battle has brought me to this place and this wonderful quote.
"If I hadn't been where I was and done everything that I had when I was there... I wouldn't be where I am right now, which is a good place! So No Regrets!"
What makes me truly happy?
Right now, commitment to family & friends.
With a family the size of a small community. I am the oldest of six, thus lots of nieces, nephews.
Many cousins & friends, my children, & my husband. We always manage to make time for each other.
The best times and the happiest are when we all share company. Strong, binding loving relationships, total devotion & loyalty to each other in good times and bad.
Simply put, the joy I find in my family is my greatest happiness. No one could ask for more.
