Karen's Story
Life
(Updated 6/2008) I graduated from Creighton University in Omaha in May 1993 with a BS in Pharmacy. I married Robert Keeler on July 31, 1993 at St. John's Church on the Creighton campus. We live in Omaha and I am a night-shift pharmacist with Walgreens. We don't have any children, but now have three cats. Our calico Sasha died of complications of diabetes in February 2006, but we still have our orange tabby Alexei, and in April 2007 we added two kittens to our household, siblings we (Bob) named Boris and Natasha. Now full grown, Natasha is a long and thin eight-pound sweetie, while Boris is part-puma sized sixteen pounds that is all cat and no fat (we can always tell which one it is when one jumps on the bed). I'm still a Chicago Cubs fan, and so is Bob. My mom still lives in Canon City.
College
After high school, I attended Crei...Expand for more
ghton University in Omaha, Nebraska. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in 1993 [no, it was a five year program, I did not goof off a year :-)]. I joined the Phi Delta Chi pharmacy fraternity in pharmacy school. I met my husband Robert while I was a student there, he worked for the university.
Workplace
After graduation, I worked for a small pharmacy chain based in Fremont, Nebraska, where I traveled around the east end of the state as a fill-in pharmacist. Then I was hired by Wal-Mart to be a pharmacy manager for them, and worked there for almost two years. Then I got the chance to return to Omaha, near Bob's family, and started working for Walgreens, where I am still. I work the night shift at a store in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and belong to the Southwest Iowa Pharmacists Association. I really enjoy being a pharmacist!
