Kari's Story

When Junior High ended in 1973, my family moved to Texas. I graduated from a high school in a Dallas suburb. I was in banking, and the restaurant business for quite some time, then decided to get a government job with good benefits. Plus I don't work 80 hour weeks anymore so that is a benefit in and of itself. I never married or had kids because I used to be a workaholic, but I love all of my nieces and nephews like my own. I don't act my age. I believe in staying young minded and bodies as much as possible. I don't act like an idiot but I do love to laugh. I love to spend time with my friends, whether it is talking, going to a movie, out to eat, walking. Not into shopping that much. But you gotta have stuff. I would love to write a book and be a motivational speaker. Still trying to teach myself guitar. I'll never be as good as I want because a person always can improve on everything they do. My favorite place to travel is Hawaii, and of course I do come up to Minnesota to get a dose of home. I still love the Minnesota Vikings. (Whether they win or lose.) I still love seeing the film footage of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics watching my fellow classmate Steve Christoff going for the gold and getting it. I root for the Dallas Stars because they used to be The North Stars that Steve played for, plus they still have Mike Modano.(I do like the Wild too.) I am a great cook. Not gourmet but great at comfort food, desserts, grilling, creating new things. Would like to have a restaurant with my brother some day. I hope my old friends remember me as a kind person. hen I was kind of shy. One thing I remember was being in a spelling bee in communications in Mr. Burnett's 8th grade class. I was the only student left standing. So then it was between me and Mr. Burnett. He eventually won. I still have most of my Minnesota accent according to my Texas Friends and customers. But, I do have a little bit of Texas in me. Photography is a hobbie of mine, I like to add the photos to music and make videos out of them. Genealogy is interesting. You never know who is a part of your family. I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel named Zorro who is black with all tan paws, tan eyebrows, and tan around his face which made him look like he was wearing a mask, hence his name. Now that he is getting older and slower, his tan fur is turning white, but he still is my biggest fan. I love american made cars. So far that is all I have ever bought, my first car was a 65 Pontiac Tempest, my favorite car was a 1978 Camaro Rally Sport which I bought brand new for $6,300.00. I would be so great to buy a new car for that much these days wouldn't it? I am into the many types of music. I have a large music collection. It helps me unwind better than anything, and motivates me too. I love Chris Isaak, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, REO Speedwagon, Coldplay, Josh Groban, Bee Gees, Willie Porter, and still love Stevie Ray Vaughan from Oak Cliff Texas. Surfing the net is fun too. I have found updates on friends and teachers online. I really had great teachers at East Jr. High like Mr. Jaglo, Mr. See, Mrs. Bowen, Mr. Klein (does anyone remember his Joke Math Test's?)
