Kathleen's Story
Who am I......I have many faces. I love to be out in the dirt and work with my horses, then come in,clean up and dress up for a Victorian Tea,or a Fantastic
Red Hat outing. .......
I love to play dress up in Victorian attire or be flashy and glamourious as the Red Hat Queen of a group of wonderful ladies who also love to have fun.
The serious side of me is long gone. But Looking back, It started after high school. At 18 I got married and at 21 I had started a family. I have three wonderful children and 3 delightful grandchildren........
My Daughter (36) is a teacher. She and her husband have two darling girls
My sons are 39 and 42. Both are business men, and the wives are career women. Charles has 1 son 21 in collage. They both reside in Washington State.
After 25 years of marriage I felt the need to see some of the world. I traveled to England,Scotland, France,The Bahamas, and down into Mexico. I am hoping to get to Alaska next year.:)
I am now married to a wonderful man who is very easy going. He loves trains, planes and all the animals. Tom just takes it in stride when I go out looking like a victorian woman, hat and all, or a Red Hat lady. He is so used to seeing me in hats that it dosen't surprise him any more. OOOPS! out of space. and time.....Aloha to all Kathleen (Mackenzie)
Platten.....
AH !!! now for the start of 2009..
Over the past few years,I have been slowly loosing my hearing...Then one day I woke up and couldn't hear out of my left ear......It was sort of funny , until the "Spin Cycles started"...VERTIGO..YUCK !!!
I am now loosing the hearing
in my right ear...Expand for more
. what a mess.!!
I haven't let it stop me from all my activities. and I seldom get upset....I'm thankful that it's just one big nucance.....
In April, I am coming home to attend
the Hula Compatitions in Hilo..My plan is to enjoy the music as much as I can, before the hearing in my right ear goes. I'm soooo excited.
Oh, I will be starting a class in sign Language next Tuesday and a bunch of my Red Hat ladies are going with Tom and I. I think it will so fun when I can talk about someone or something, and no one will know.....
Never to old to learn new things, and I wont have to worry about my spelling anymore.Hee Hee oops....AH WAY Tom is calling and I need to get off this machine.Aloha and Happy New Year. K.
It is now 2010and some of my dreams have gone on a road trip....Hee Hee..I am working around not having back surgery. I have a ruptured L3/4 disk..I am still working on going to Alaska...this year...who knows whats around the corner. It could be a wonderful windfall..
Talk about whats around the corner,YIKES!!! my 65th. year is almost over and my 66 is almost upon me.
So, today while I was looking through my Kalani annuals I was thinking of the one person from my past who I'd most like to see again, and
my old heart throb Benjanin Bottelo, and his wife came into my mind.
I was very fond of his mother, and he has always held a special place in my heart.I don't know if they are still in Hawaii, or on the"Mainland". If anyone has heard from them, have him send me an e-mail. Thanks all and Happy New Year....Kathleen(Mackenzie) Platten.
