Kathleen's Story
Life
I live in Plymouth with my husband Rob, and our two kids: Shannon 5 and Tommy 4. Officially in the suburbs and enjoying the family life and my 30's..... After 10 years of traveling, working as a Park Ranger and snowboarding in the coolest places....the transition to family life and settling down was hard at first, but I love being "home" and I couldn't imagine raising my family anywhere else.
My hubby , Rob, is awesome and we love spending time away on our boat in the summer, snowboarding in the winter, and hanging out with our group of friends and going to live shows on weekends.
The kids are adorable and I love to see them with my brother's kids all playing together. Life is good....
School
I loved our times at South and wished we could have graduated from there. The merger in '90 was a total inconvenience for me....to tell the truth.
I liked the whole atmosphere of South, and the teachers were great.
It seems like they make movies about how high school was back then, now.
The 80's did rock! Loved school....(what a geek)!
College
I graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1996 with a degree in Geography.
This program allowed me to pursue a career as a Park Ranger, so I was really ...Expand for more
into it. (I wanted to be a Park Ranger ever since I was a kid playing in the woods at the "Rez").
Because I was so close to home I enjoyed the campus life at B'Water, living in an off campus apartment, and I also got to party with my older Weymouth pals in the clubs (after 21, of course).
Summer and winter breaks were filled with trips to Colorado, New Hampshire, Maine, Vt. for skiing/snowboarding and job related training. Good Times!!!!
Workplace
The logical progression from college was to pursue my career in the Park Service. The highlight of this for me was my position for the US Forest Service in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The perfect blend of wilderness and prime snowboarding!
I loved the travel and the cool places in my Park Ranger career, but I learned about government and budget cuts!!! (Park Rangers aren't the highest of priorities for the taxpayers.)
After 8 or so years in the field and moving everywhere....I found myself patrolling for the State of Mass.....and that's where I met my hubby,Rob.
After we had the 2 kids I decided to change careers (something a bit safer) so I now sell Real Estate for Coldwell Banker in Plymouth. This has been a successful transition for all of us.
