Katie's Story

Wow, has it really been 36 years since graduation????? I can remember when a 25 year-old seemed "ancient!" The only thing that seems to change is the outside "tent" for a body on this earth - but the mind seems like yester-year. After graduation I continued on to night school at Erie VoTech and very involved with my church - especially with the youth. Was accepted at college on the eastern side of PA - but my mother talked me into not leaving her. At times I regret it - but then I wouldn't be where I am today with a beautiful son and daughter. (Wanted 5 kids -- but after 2 and 14 months apart, diapers, ect. I just wanted to enjoy both of them and make sure they were well loved and brought up to love the Lord!!! In 1980 my family moved to North Carolina. Shocked by people still cutting their grass in November and actually flowers in the spring it was quite an adjustment. The summers here in Charlotte are between 90 and 110 which are tough compared to Erie. I haven't seen a white Christmas since. My kids have never seen snow. But, we are 4 hours from the mountains and 4 hours from the ocean which is great. I have spent 27 yea...Expand for more
rs in the surgical field which I love (boss is difficult - but patients make up for it!) My husband worked for USAir for 24 years and then went to work in heating and air conditioning about 4 years ago. We have four grandchildren and one on the way -----amazing!!! Grandparents????? Life, as for all of us, has really taught us so much. Heartbreaks, losses, kids, looking back and realizing how innocent and young we all were. I would love to just go back for a day and hold on to many memories. My family is gone now - except for the four of us. I never would have believed that would have happened. I remember saying "I wish I could see into the future," but God gives us the strength and grace to handle the most difficult of times and if knowing about things and the future -but I know I would lose sight of today. I wouldn't trade time for what it has taught us. I have learned not to say "I never will," as God has His plan for each of us - and is always better than ours - even if we are in the midst of tremendous pain. I hope all of you are well and wonderful. Would love to hear from many. It has been so long! Katie Hough Sale
