Kathryn's Story

Life Life's been interesting so far. I got married January 4th 2001, to a wonderful man. His name is Evan, he was from Thompson, ND. But we met while he was in the NAVY. We did a long distant relationship for almost 2 years and the we decided to get married. Shortly after we got married Evan had to go out for a 6 month deployment and when he came back we moved to Norfolk, Va. where he was stationed. When his enlistment was up in 2002 we moved back to Grand Forks. In July of 2003 we bought a house outside of Thompson. So far we like it here. We have no children yet, but wouldn't mind to have any in the near future. But we are not in any hurry. Right now all we have is a dog and a cat and those 2 are about as much as we can handle right now. Life is going about as well as it can be for now, I have a great marriage with a great guy, and nice home, what more could I ask for now, except maybe winning the lottery. :) College I didn't really go to college, but I'd like to. I tried school at Josef's School of Hair Design and about a month into it I realized that it was totally not a porfession for me. So until I can see myself doing for a long time I will just work. College os so expensive if you don't know what you are going to go for. So might as well not waste mine or anyone elses time. Workplace I started working when I was 15, I was a housekeeper at the Comfort Inn in East Grand Forks, I did that for about a month and then I had to have knee surgery, I didn't want to go back, it wasn't very fun. Then I started working at Toppers in Grand Forks. I did that for about 1 ...Expand for more
1/2 years and learned to do almost everything thing there. I cooked, served, did dishes, the game room, waited on people. I hated it when I was there but now that I think back about it, it was a really fun job. The pay wasn't good but I loved the people I worked with. I worked there until they closed in Decemeber of 99. Then I started working at Giovannis' Pizza in GF, I did delivaries, took orders, cooked, open & closed dishes, made dough and all that fun stuff. That was an okay job, when they actually paid you. I had a few paychecks or mine bounce. The owners at that time had no idea on how to run a resteraunt, so needless to say they went bankrupt and closed. I was there for about 10 months. By this time I was feeling lin a jinx, my last 2 employers closed for business so when I got a job at Valley Dairy in GF I asked if they were going to be closing anytime soon, and we he said no I took the job. That was in OCT. 2000 and I worked there until July of 2001 when I moved to Virginia to be with my husband. I got a job at Target and it was ok, most of the people were nice. I worked there til May 2002 and then I was going to transfer back to GF, but some how it didn't work out. But I promised Valley Dairy that I would come back to them, Because I really liked the people I worked with. So that is where I have been ever since. Some days I really like it and some days I really hate it, but I am a lead associate now, and that's all I want to be for now, I really have no intentions on moving any higher than that. I just really feel that I am management material. So I am content for now
