Kathy's Story

Life After graduation from high school, I moved to Vancouver and attended UBC. I finished my BA in psychology in 1978, took a bit of time off, and then in 1981 went to law school, graduating in 1984. I'm a prosecutor, working in Vancouver. I was married in 1985, and separated about 10 years later. I've been living with another prosecutor for about 9 years now (no, we don't talk about law all the time - he'd rather play guitar, and I get more than enough of that stuff at work!). I started running at the beginning of 2002 in a Sun Run clinic, and have (as of the end of 2006) since done four half-marathons. In November, 2004, I celebrated my 50...Expand for more
th birthday with a trip to NYC where I took part in the NYC marathon. My time was very slow, but I finished with a smile on my face, and injury-free - had a total blast doing it! I'd like to run it again, and maybe finish in under 5 hours! I also like reading, music (I play bass and sing) and dogs - I have two of them, so I have become that stereotype: a childless middle-aged woman with two small dogs. Fortunately, along the way I stopped worrying about what other people think of me. Getting older is great, except for the wrinkles and greying hair - I just reach for the hair dye and practise denial. 51? Me? Nope - I'm still about 20 inside!
