Kathy's Story
HIGH SCHOOL: Yeah, wish I had grown up sooner! Thanks to Miss Turner.... she got me interested in going further in science and in particular in Chemistry. Mrs. Witt.... why is it that the tough teachers are the ones many of us remember fondly? Retired.. Have time to contemplate the meaning of life! And to work on my websites I voluntarily create and maintain!
PARENTING: Best years of my life - raising children is absolutely the most fulfilling! Absolutely positively loved being a mom! Moved from Kamloops in 1990 to family housing at UBC to complete an Honours degree in Biology and Chemistry.... And a Masters in Occupational Hygiene, still contemplating the meaning of life... In a very very hurried fashion.
Prior to going to University up to 1990, worked in a legal office -- learned so much about life, rights, responsibilities, wouldn't change this part of my life for anything. Worked for a very very good man (lawyer) while I was being a parent to young children.
UNIVERSITY: Loved learning, especially working at Children's Hospital in Va...Expand for more
ncouver for my undergraduate thesis... Alpha actin immunocytochemical staining of the lung tissue of age matched babies who died from SIDS.....had to go into hibernation because raising children and going to university was quite the chore -- had help from an amazingly good guy who has moved on to have children of his own.
WORK AFTER UNIVERSITY: Well, all I can say was stressful due to the political nature - worked in a pulp and paper mill as a safety manager, and during my children's teen years - most of which was done on my own...
AFTER PARENTING and RETIRED: Life is sooo good! Married to an amazingly kind generous and fun-loving man.... we are going to amazing places all over the world! Cycling and gardening are my passions!
NO SURPRISES! Life is what it is! Very much living a buddhist philosophy! Thinking is not really very productive!!
Addendum: BIG ONE! Seven grandchildren .... Amazing, a grandmother and the cycle continues We have a 1/2 time place in Sun Lakes, AZ, even though our main residence is in BC, so very fortunate!
