Kathy's Story
Life...
. . . is too much like a roller-coaster ride. 2012 has been full of breath-stealing highs, followed by bone-rattling lows. Hubby's working again -- for another national restaurant chain -- but he had to live out of the state to do it. Meanwhile, we found out what was causing my chronic chest pain when I had a heart attack. The fix? Triple by-pass heart surgery. Modern medicine is either amazing--or a crap shoot. My EKG enroute to the hospital was normal. Long story short: I'm recovering nicely, hubby's been transferred back to Texas and Christmas is right around the corner. Life is...getting better.
.....is survivable. It's been a year since I wrote what follows. Hubby's found a new job; our eldest is married, but no new grandchildren on the way...yet. I've gone back to work part-time, which has severely limited my writing, but that's about to get fixed. What was it I said was the key to success? Oh, yeah, flexibility. Just call me "Gumby".

ployed in June, so we're doing the make-ends-meet shuffle. It's a very deceptive dance....looks smooth and untroubled on the surface, but the footwork'll kill you.
......is rewarding! Five of our seven grandkids live close by now and we get to see them at least once a week. We even have sleepovers. My elder son is engaged to be married this June, so there may be more little ones to come.
......is challenging! My third book, released in Nov. 2010, is doing well and had great reviews. I signed with an agent, who rejected my next proposal, as did my editor. I'm working on a new one, which isn't coming together as quickly as I'd like. Too many sleepovers, not enough butt-in-the-chair time. My publisher is facing hard times and has down-sized. My editor saw it coming and jumped ship, which could be a good thing. Time will tell.
......is changeable. Flexibility, adaptability remain key to success.
