Kay's Story
For those I knew from McAlester, Mom moved us to Phoenix, AZ summer of 1970.
Graduated from Moon Valley High School May '72 and left for Chicago 5 days later.
During my senior year of high school I had spent weekends working (gratus) at the local thoroughbred race track, Turf Paradise. I was promised work if I came to Chicago, but I took a side trip to Great Lakes to see an old friend.
Finally made my way back to Chicago and found a job with a different trainer, grooming horses. Continued to work on the circuit in New Orleans, East St. Louis, Hot Springs, AR. Decided the life was not for me and went home to Phoenix in fall '73.
Hired at American Express in Jan '74 and have been there ever since. Most of that time was here...Expand for more
in Phoenix, but due to "reorganization" job was moved to Greensboro, NC in Feb '95. Had a great log house about 10 miles south of Virgina border and loved the country. More changes and I came back to Phoenix in the summer of '99.
Married '85 and divorced '89. No kids.
Currently share home with 4 dogs, 1 cat and a parakeet.
Spend most Saturdays working with bird rescue organization - Fallen Feathers. Most of the work involves baby song birds, but also have encounters with hawks, owls, ravens, even pelicans. I have been doing this for 5 years and it is never boring. Especially since we also take in parrots that are lost, left behind when the owners pass on, or simply no longer wanted.
