Kayla's Story

Life I married right out of high school, New Years Eve of 82, to a wonderful man, who turned out to be an even more wonderful father. We were married for 19 years and had two beautiful girls together. He was in the Navy for the first 6 years of our marriage so we lived in Florida and South Carolina when he got out we moved back to North Little Rock. I went to work for my parents at Phillips Bros Towing, so that I could have flexible hours and be there for our girls school activites and other numerous functions, dance, gymnastics, softball, drill team, modeling, shopping, etc... NEVER A DULL MOMENT... BUT I loved every moment of it and would gladly do it over... NOT that I'm not a mother anymore, a mother's job is never done, but they are at least self-suffcient now at 17 & 19. By this I mean they can feed and cloth themselves, oh yeah and drive. I almost feel lost not transporting them and a 1/2 dozen of their friends here and there daily. We moved to Cabot about 5 years ago. I love it here. I am still working with my parents after all these years, I am also now divorced, but on good terms. We have what seems like a small petting zoo at our house, 2 Golden Retrievers, 1 Black Lab, 2 Yorkies, 7 cats, 2 chinchillas,a handful of hamsters, an African Grey Parrot and 1 iguana (don't ask)... the kids drug them all home 1 at a time, knowing if it made it thru the front door and I looked at it, I wouldn't make them take it back. They learned early on not to ask first. I turned 41 on my last birthday, and I have to say that I am happy with what life has dealt me so far, and I am e...Expand for more
njoying everything that I have been blessed with, especially my girls Kristen & Kacey. I would love to hear from any of you fellow Wildcats. UPDATE : I am now 45 so it has been 4 years since I posted anything on here. Alot has changed in 4 years. I am now a grandma. My daughter Kacey had twins May 8th, 2008. A girl Laken Alexis and a boy Kayden Grant, they are the joy of my life. My other daughter Kristen got married June 7th, 2008...So I am also now a mother-in-law...LOL My son-in-law is too a joy and a blessing to our family. I am still single, but have a few close friends I see occasionally. Life has been very good to me. I have no complaints. I do still have several animals, but nothing like the list from 4 years ago. I still bowl, on a league here in Cabot on Tuesday evenings, which is alot of fun. I miss playing softball, and would like to do that again in the future. I had some health issues last year and had my gall bladder removed, and then had some side effects from that. My blood work showed my liver functions were outta whack, so had to do liver biopsy. Found out what the problem was there, and I am happy to report that as of a week ago when they did my blood work. I had lost 40 lbs since OCT. and I am well within Normal range for everything. So I am back on a healthy track. I would love to hear from some of my old friends from school, have wondered where alot of you have ended up or if you are still around the North Little Rock area. I live in Cabot but I work in NLR. Just send me a message and I will write back. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care.
