Kellan's Story

After high school I spent 5 weeks hitch-hiking to New York City and around the country. Then I enlisted in the Marines and did some time in South Vietnam. I was a crewchief and machine gunner on a helicopter. Flew over 640 combat missions, and saved Marine lives. I was a good shot. Published a book about the emotional results of surviving the Vietnam War. I married Anna Huck and graduated from the U of Minn. Bought a farm in peaceful Minn and miilked cows for a living. I really like cows, better than most people, actually. I loved the quiet of the country life.. Have 4 kids who are doing super well. I'm very proud of them. Unfortunartely after 28 years of marriage Anna and I divorced. We should have worked it out...Expand for more
. Now I'm remarried and retired in mild-wintered Texas. There's no snow to shovel here, and it NEVER gets below zero! I worked many days at 20 below zero, and believe me, retirement is good!!! Semper Fi. Once a Marine, always a Marine. I'm Kellan's wife, Gena, and I'm attempting to update so many of the organizations he'd joined. On December 3, 2011, Kellan passed away. He often said that he missed his dad every day and I take a great deal of comfort in knowing that he's now with his father and his Father. I heard from so many of his friends from Terra Linda via his facebook page after he passed and it was good to know that people remembered him so fondly. I shared all those comments with Kellan's children.
