Kelley's Story
What's new since when? High School? Ok. I went to college as you can see by my profile. I got an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts, then went on to get my B.A. in English/Secondary Education. I had trouble finding a teaching job as I looked too young, so I ended up working clerical jobs.
I had a daughter in 1989 after graduating. She was born in January 1989 and placed for adoption as I had no means to take care of her (no job, no home to bring her to). She deserved better than poverty. Her father still denies being her father.
I worked clerical jobs until 1993 when my health went bad and I was sent to graduate school by VESID for Rehabilitation Counseling. I graduated from Syracuse University in 1997 and returned to work part time and progressed to full time.

Vocational Counselor, then progressed to Medical Case Manager. The company decided to revamp job titles and would have made it look as if I had been demoted on paper, so I found a job in NJ.
I worked for Easter Seals, but they just wanted someone in position until they shut the facility doors in September. So one week before 9/11 I was out of a job again until December 2001.
I then began working as a Case Manager for Catholic Charities Diocese of Metuchen. I worked at a homeless shelter for men, then was promoted and eventually ended up as Case Manager Supervisor. I worked for CCDOM from 12/01 - 07/07.
In March of 2007, I went out on medical leave/disability and have been out since. I on Social Security benefits at this time as my doctors tell me I am not capable of returning to work.
I currently spend most of my time at home, playing computer games or watching t.v.; or going out to doctor appointments.
