Kelli's Story

My story? Ugh! I have been happily married for 7 years (we will be celebrating our 8th yr of marriage in May and our 13th yr together in December). He has 2 grown children; a son, Jim, 38 and a daughter, Annie Kay, 36. Our son, Jim (my husband is also Jim) has 4 children: Brittney, 16 Heather (soon to be 16) Kayle' 13 and Jimmy 10. Brittney and Kayle' share the same birthday and yes, they hate it! The girls were just little babes when I first met them and little Jimmy wasn't even a thought in his parent's heads yet. So I had a "ready made" family....and became a grandmother at age 27. Guess I had my family the "easy" way. My husband, our son and I, own and operate a Mixed Martial Arts school; this will be our 10th year owning the school. My husband Jim started in martial arts in 1968 when he was enlisted in the Marines and went to Viet Nam, I became interested in martial arts in 1988 and our son, Jim, started around 1989 when he graduated from Delphi High School. Our daughter, Annie Kay, graduated from Delphi in 1990 and lives in an assisted living community in Monticello (she has muscular dystrophy/hypotonia) and functions very well living in an apartment by herself. She has caregivers who check in on her on a daily basis, but otherwise she lives by herself. She attends a Comprehensive Development Center workshop in Monticello where the kids are taught life skills, given physical/occupational/speech therapy and where she "socializes way too much".....according to her caseworker. Actually Annie Kay is the happiest person and the nicest, genuine person I've ever met and I'm glad she is not ja...Expand for more
ded like most adults! My sister lives near Stockwell, where we grew up and is graduating this May 2008 with her PhD from Purdue! Daddy lives with her and is doing well. Mommy died from Cancer Feb 2004. (wow it doesn't seem like it's been 4 years already) I still keep in contact with Kama (Schurr) Kerr and we try to go to lunch at least 2-3 times/month. I work in a medical complex in Lafayette and see Kathy (Taylor) Forde almost daily. I see Cindy (Schneidau) Volpi occassionally, her husband works with my husband at Fairfield. Hmmmm...what else to say? I dunno....Mrs. Wilson would've just cringed at that last sentence..... I miss the people from high school but I can honestly say I don't miss the experience. I was painfully shy, was a nerd/geek, and was not allowed to be socially involved in school activities because my parents were ultra-strict. I missed out on Proms and dating because my parents wouldn't allow me to go to them or to date anyone. I can honestly say, if someone came up to me and paid me a million dollars, I wouldn't go "re-live" my high school experience! I'm glad we're out of school....I'm glad we all moved on with our lives and became the individuals we needed to become and now we are here interested in each other's lives because we can be......no silly clicks, no silly "i'm only friends with you because *(*(&&( is " and all that nonsense. I'd like to think I'm the same person I was born to be and have always been. I treat people better than I expect to be treated and I don't judge people. I'm the same old me.....just 20 years older than ya'll remember.
