Kelly's Story
Life
Life is good. Spent a long time looking before I found the right man to marry but he's worth the wait. We've been together since 1995, married married since 2004. We own a small business so we don't have a lot of time, and have NEVER taken a "vacation" longer than an extended weekend (usually every other year! =]) but are hoping that will change soon. My husband has 2 sons from a previous marriage who live with their mother, and we live a rather quiet, unobtrusive life.
Workplace
I had to try a little of everything when it came to work. I bussed tables at an Oriental buffet, worked in record store, delivered cars, worked in a carwash...you name it. I eventually got a temp job with ITT Technical Institute where I stayed for over 2 years. Then the bug bit again and I felt the need to experience more jobs. I worked in real estate, leasing, public relations, accounting, and on the side I wrote for a freebie local 'zine that was run by Rob Halford (yes THAT Rob Halford!) and Jim Keeler (Surgical Steel fame). gain, trying all sorts of jobs. I worked in accounting (mostly income tax department but a little audit and a tiny bit of sales tax) before deciding to start a business of my own. I had settled into a stable relationship by this time and we'd discussed starting our own business. The time finally came where I said, "We either do it and fail and say we tried, or we succeed, or we don't do it at all. BUT if we DON'T do it at all, I don't want to EVER hear another word about it AGAIN!!!" It's been an adventure to say the least and made me appreciate all of my superiors from the past! I don't think I've learned so much as I have owning a company. And I think I need to take classes in psychology in order to deal with my employees... not for them, for ME, so I don't go crazy!!!
i have also found it is NECESSARY to have a deep faith in God. I don't know how ANYONE can run a business without having God as a partner. Currently the business is going through a rough patch and i am finding it more and more important to bring God into the equation.
