Ken's Story
Life
After high school, I spent a year with ARC doing shows throughout the US. Then it was off to college for a music education. I got a lot more education than music, though music paid the bills. Since life at IWU, I've lived one year in Owosso, MI, five years in Buffalo, NY, two years in Moline, Illinois, and six years in Allendale, MI.
I finally turned into a half-nice guy and found someone that would marry me. Karen's a pediatric nurse, and we have two incredible sons together who consume our time with their baseball, football, and basketball involvements. We're big into Michigan football, Braves baseball, and any Big Ten college hoops.
School
Biggest crush? They'd die, but two were Betsy Bylsma and Lauren Carey. Favorite teacher? Mr. Sawyer (aka, "Boo Boo the Fool"). Favorite moment? Bob Strobel reading Prince's "I Would Die for You" lyrics as a poem in English class, and getting away with it. Would I do high school again? Yeah, but without the big hair, and I'd hope to be nicer. Greatest friends? Todd, Grant, Matt, Leroy, Eric, and Mike. Hardest loss? Realizing Todd will never again know who I am. Biggest disappointment? Losing track of Marc Vicari, Matt Meadows, Mike Atkins, and Steve Wilbourn. Vintage memory? Listening to Genesis with Jeff Mesler on the way to a game against Mona Shores. Anything else? I think I was really nice to some people, and really mean and twisted toward others... sorry about that inconsistency.
College

, and the Three Stallions... Shooting up the girls' dorm... Todd Gentry scares me... Cooper's cool... Conrad is a hottie... Keith Drury - "Are you running from a call"... Prof Guy - "Dear Lord, help them remember to wear their hats and mittens"... Helton can sing... Master's Praise... Dr. Joe - "Never, EVER, use allegory"... Dr. Barnes - "Coincidence? I think not"... Gale - Can you say "barbeque pizza"?...
College was a major turning point for me. I figured out who I was, what I wanted to do, and who I should spend my life with. I wasn't the perfect friend or student, but I was determined to improve. I have some great memories and lifelong friends from these four critical years of my life.
Workplace
Hahaha... You wouldn't believe it if I wrote it, so I won't. I remember spending some time with Gretchen and Glenn (yeah, our state senator!) at Todd Maxim's wedding, telling them what I was doing. Glenn said something I doubt he'd say out loud on the senate floor (at least in public dialogue), and that about summed it up. So, if you really want to know you'll need to contact me directly...
Military
My dad served in the Army, my father-in-law served in the Navy, my brother-in-law Dan served in the Air Force, and my brother-in-law Steve served in the National Guard.
I never served (though I filled out some initial paperwork for the Marines), but I have utmost respect for the men and women who serve our country. A huge salute to all who stand ready.
