Ken's Story
Life
I have two great kids, Sarah Chaila (6) and Benjamin (3). I'm a percussionist and resident rhythm bones player with "The President's Own" United States Marine Band in Washington, DC (Active Duty GunnerySergeant, non-deployable unit permanently attached with the White House). After high school I went to Oberlin College where I met my incredible wife, Elaine, who I've been married to for 13 years :)
I received my Masters in performance at UofMich, then moved to...Expand for more
Boston where I did the starving musician scene for about 6 years (by day I worked for lawyers, by night I gigged around town as a marimba soloist and with the Rhode Island Philharmonic). After my 4th audition and perseverance against all odds, I finally joined the President's Own in 1997.
Besides the marine band, I just started playing in Irish sessions on concertina, bodhran & bones, and guest teach/perform at the Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT on spoons&bones.
