Dec15th 1960 entered USAF boot wasn,t long nor difficult.There were only two flights going thru at that time I guess most wanted to be home for christmas I didn,t. I left lackland about jan 2, bound for Chanute afb Ill. It was cold and miserable my class was assigned to all kinds of crap details waiting some 13 weeks for our school to start. We pulled weeks of K.P. and cleaned office buildings .Finally asigned to fuel systems school after grad , was sent to McConnell afb,Kas. 4347 FMS B47 Bomb support group . We had a good crew and a good aircraft to work on. In the winter of 62 I took a long leave when I returned everyone in my shop had been shipped out I didn,t have any idea where they were sent. I was reassigned to the new TAC wing which arrived and deleated old inventory for months ie. f I would extend I would for a promotion, the AF wouldn,t so I retired from military life. In late 61 I married and by sept. 64 We had 2 children. After the discharge we moved back to Mo. I finally got a job as such working for a shoe factory, that didn,t fit me so 2 mos later I decided it was back in the AF or Calif. We arrived in Ca. on a sun. on mon. morning I was working for a food company where I stayed until 1969. Iapplid and was excepted into the state police dept and worked for about 4 yrs tired of wishey washey policy and politicts I transfered to the sheriff dept. retired from there in 87. bought a 2nd house and remodled it for our daughter. I begsn doing handyman work for a real estate co for 2 yrs, quit that job and then worked for a golf course for 2 yrs. I had to get a real job so went to work for a defense contractor at north island our project ended in 2000. Laid off I odd jobed for several mos. then a call from the defense contractor to work for them at the marine and navy warfare facility. This job lasted until I retired. Now we are in Mo. cutting weeds and mowing the lawn.
