Kenneth's Story

After highschool I moved to Broken Arrow to attempt to go to Spartan Aeronautics. I got a job and started getting everything setup then realized that I could not afford to go to Spartan without a few years of savings. (The TA that I had lined up turned out to be rather restrictive and once I got out to Oklahoma dropped me... :( ) Following the advise of a few friends I moved back to Illinois to take classes at OCC for computers and computer programming, and had then planned after getting a two to four year degree to go back and try Spartan at a later date. Not a person to sit around doing nothing while I waited for the next semester living off my parents again, I went out and got a job. In Feb 07 I ended up jobless again (cutbacks...Expand for more
at the factory I was working at). At some point my sister asked me to drive her in to the army recuiter's office there in Olney so she could re-enlist from the reserves to active duty. While there I got talked into joining. (It isn't hard to talk some one who's jobless in a town with very few jobs to accept a job that also has excellent TA and trains you in the career field of your choice especialy a job that gives a bonus just for enlisting...) Figuring I'd go with something I liked and already knew a little bit about I enlisted as a 25U (supposedly my job would be nothing but computers ;) not...). Went to basic at Jackson, AIT at Gordon and ended up at Fort Campbell in HHC of the 4th BN 101st AVN REGT. Been there ever since.
