Kent's Story
Life
After High School I moved to Brookville, PA for 5 years followed by 4 years in State College, PA pretending to study at Penn State.
Finally got a degree from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI in '87.
Following college, I moved to Provincetown, MA for 4 years where I was Executive Chef at The Mews.
In 1990, I relocated to Baltimore, MD and have been here ever since.
Since moving to Baltimore I taught at Baltimore International College for 6 years, was Director of Food Service Operations for Maryland Community Kitchens (aka Moveable Feast) for 2 years, and then in 2000 I went back to school for IT and changed careers.
I am currently a Senior Systems Analyst for Erickson Retirement supporting our Dining Services, Security and Philanthropy departments.
When I'm not working I enjoy sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, working on my house and checking out the local bands with my friends.
Workplace
From 1976 - 1989 I worked in Food Service, starting as a bus boy at Smokey's Lounge in Latrobe and working my way through the ranks at hotels and restaurants in Brookville PA, State College PA, and Providence RI.

on from Johnson and Wales University in 1987 I took a position as Executive Chef at The Mews in Provincetown, MA where I worked for almost 4 years. During my time at The Mews I was featured in 2 articles in The Boston Globe and was mentioned in an article in The New York Times.
In 1990 I moved to Baltimore and taught Baking and Pastry at Baltimore International College as an Executive Pastry Chef. I also started my own company (Food of the Gods) and added the title of Chocolatier to my credentials.
After 6 years of teaching I accepted an offer at Moveable Feast as the Director of Foodservice Operations/Executive Chef.
My interest in the application of technology to the Food Service industry eventually led me to a career change. I was certified as an MCSE in 2000 and left Food Service for a career in Information Systems.
I am currently working as a Senior Systems Analyst for Erickson Retirement managing our Dining Services Information Systems where I am able to blend my experience in Food Service with my love of all things technological.
Along the way I have also worked as a welder, a sound man for a top 40 cover band and a caterer.
