Kent's Story

A PERSONAL TESTIMONY: A true culture warrior living with my wife Donna in beautiful Pleasant Valley Oregon, where we have lived for the last twenty- five years. I spend my time pastoring a local Christian Fellowship. I am involved in my 45th year of high school basketball officiating in addition to 20 years of college officiating. We have three children, and eight grandchildren, all eight grandkids are five years of age and younger. We are a hardworking, loving Christian family (in spite of everything that President Obama and the secular progressives attempt to do to us to the contrary). As a nation, we used to value empowerment over entitlement, opportunity over dependence, pleasing our friends over appeasing our enemies. We used to encourage entrepreneurs and free markets, not bureaucracies and debt. We need to celebrate success, not demonize it. We used to believe that America was exceptional, but that was before the Obamas were not proud of their country. Unfortunately, people who now work for a living are being buried by people who vote for a living. Today, over 100 million Americans are either out of work, have given up the idea of ever finding work, or who are on welfare. To date, my greatest accomplishment has been that of assisting my wife in the creation of a family, and in the nurture, discipline and education of ...Expand for more
our children and grand kids. My top priority in life continues to be to teach my kids and grandkids the ways of the Lord. Our mission is to model the life of Jesus, and to proclaim his life-changing power for all who would repent, and as an act of faith, allow Him to become the Lord of their life. Our purpose is to cultivate relationships with other healthy Christian families and to multiply Christian disciples who can declare God's glory to the inhabitants of the City until Christ returns. My personal testimony is stated in the following verse from the Word of God, the Bible. "Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of His own purpose and grace, which He gave us in Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world" (2 Timothy 1:8-9). I remember my years in Exeter with great fondness along with the many memories and lifelong relationships with friends and former teammates that were forged there in that great little town. Exeter is a very special place, and I am honored to call it my hometown. Blessings to all of you, and especially to my brothers and sisters in Christ, members of the family of God. A Co-Laborer in His harvest, Kent Walton (EUHS 64)
