Mishele's Story
Kevin and I are in Algiers now. I arrived Oct 4 and hit the ground running, AFTER I got over my case of bronchitis. Algiers is a boring country compared to the others we've been. We are VERY restricted as to where we can go, what we can do. Which forces us to be more of a homebody. Yes, two years here will be MORE than enough. And not only do I support the Ambassador, but the 2nd in command, the Deputy Chief of Mission. I also supervise the Protocol Assistant. This is definitely not what I signed up for and no one bothered to tell me before our arrival. Oops! That's the governm...Expand for more

But, we're surviving. We find we socialize more with the other Americans here. We have gone to the Casbah (yes, the original) and done a few other things to keep busy, like go-karting. It's weird to see that here. We've dined out a couple of times. Our original intent to coming here was for the money. We do make extra being at a danger/hardship post. And we'll earn every penny!
