Kevin Helms:  

Following high school graduation in 1990, I moved to Tuscaloosa to attend the University of Alabama, though I spent a lot of time returning to Birmingham for the first few years. I graduated from the University in 1995 with my Master's Degree in Public Administration. During this time, I was also fortunate to intern as part of my degree program with the City of Mountain Brook during the summer of 1995. In February of 1996, I married Sonya (Bannister) Helms. After working several temporary jobs, I was offered the position of City Manager in Clifton, Tennessee in September of 1996. I remained in that position for almost ten years. I now have over twenty years of service as a City Manager in Tennessee, and am currently living outside of Middle Tennessee for the first time while serving in my fourth city. I have been working for the City of Harriman for over five years now. Harriman is a beautiful City located in East Tennessee not far from the Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Knoxville. During my career, I have been fortunate to attend specialized management training at the University of Tennessee and the University of Virginia.
