Kevin's Story

Bio: CW3, USA (Ret) Kevin W. Miller was born at Fort Hood, Texas and raised in an army family. He enlisted in the United States Army Military Intelligence Corps in 1982 from Hannibal, Missouri and received his commission as an Intelligence Warrant Officer in 1991 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. After retiring from service in 2002 he served in Business and Program Leadership positions in the Defense Industry until forming Sciolex Corporation in 2006 where he currently serves as the President and CEO. In 2013 he started his second Sciolex company; Sciolex Support Services Incorporated. He is the distinguished graduate of multiple services schools and courses and holds undergraduate degrees in Management and Information Systems and a Graduate degree in Space Systems Management. CW3, USA (Ret) Kevin W. Miller began his intelligence career at a joint detachment in Turkey responsible for intelligence collection missions and teams assigned to the Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) Intelligence Support Activities for National and Tactical Weapons and Space Counter-Proliferation operations. Subsequent assignments included section sergeant and platoon sergeant positions leading ground surveillance and intelligence and electronic warfare elements through a vast array of training and operational missions in the Americas and Central and Eastern Europe. After commissioning he served as the Chief of Collection Management for the 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment under the 18th Airborne Corps during operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM and later as the Chief of the Regimental Intelligence Support Element and Regimental S2 Plans and Operations Officer supporting regimental contingency planning and operations and both direct and general support for the Operation Alliance and Joint Task Force-6 at Fort Bliss, Texas. His European assignments include the Chief of the United States Army Europe Electronic Intelligence Operations Branch and Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) Officer in support of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade Beirut Air Bridge missions, deployed US Army Divisions and Separate Brigades in operations JOINT ENDEAVOR and JOINT GUARD, and persistent daily operational mission support for operations NORTHERN and SOUTHERN WATCH and DESERT STRIKE and FOX. After leaving the European Theater he was again assigned to INSCOM with responsibilities in a joint environment at various Department of Defense intelligence agencies with expeditionary and garrison duties as detachment executive officer, collection and resource manager, and national systems capability manager in support of operations in the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe; the last of which was OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Miller'€™s honors, awards, and decorations include the Brigadier General Bernard Ardisana Award from the Collection Association as the Nation'€™s Top Intelligence Collector of the Year, the Knowlton Award from the Military Intelligence Corps, the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), various Regional and Expeditionary Service Medals and Service Ribbons, and Certificates and Letters of Commendation and Appreciation from the US Army CofS for Intelligence, INSCOM Commanders, FORSCOM CofS, Maneuver Commanders, and multiple federal agency Senior Executives; and 2-time nominee for the General of the Army Omar N. Bradley Memorial Award. CW3, USA (Ret) Kevin Miller is married to the former Margaret S. Burkart of central New Jersey who also served in the US Army Military Intelligence Service from 1982 to 1988. They have been married for 30 years and have two children, Jennifer M. Ramirez, wife of Eric Ramirez, and Steven W. Miller; and two grandchildren, Emilia Rose Ramirez and Sebastian Jaeger Ramirez. Kevin and Margaret privately support the national charities of American Diabetes Foundation, Smile Train, Down Country, and Special Olympics and local charities of Loudoun Habitat for Humanity, Boulder Crest Wounded Warrior Retreat, and Northern Virginia Fraternal Order of Police Lodges 64 and 69, and with Sciolex Corporation philanthropy funds support Purple Heart Homes, Fisher House, and the Special Forces Association Scholarship Fund through the Special Forces Association Chapter 90 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and also support the Salute Military Golf Association in Olney, Maryland, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in Tampa, Florida, and the Capital Caring hospice, palliative, and counseling organization in the greater DC metro area and have also served as the chairs and platinum sponsors for the 35th Anniversary Capital Caring Passion for Caring Gala in 2012. CW3, USA (Ret) Kevin Miller is a member of the Board of Directors for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (specialops.org), a member of the Warrant Officers Association (WOA), the Military Intelligence Corps Association (MICA) of the United States Army, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Society, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
