Kevin's Story
Life
I graduated from Ashland University on May 2001 w/a BA in Political Science and Math. I was in the PhD program in political philosophy at Michigan State, but the program wasn't what I wanted, so I transferred. I went to the Institute of Philosophic Studies at the University of Dallas, Irving, TX, where I earned an MA (2003) and a Ph.D. (2006) in Politics. My dissertation was on public administration in the constitutionalism of the American Founders (exciting). I am also now assistant professor of political science at Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, MI. I previously held the same position at Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, NC.
I married Rebecca Fowler, whom I met at Ashland, on July 5, 2003. We have lived in Irving, Texas (sub...Expand for more
urban Dallas), Belmont, North Carolina (suburban Charlotte), and now Hillsdale, Michigan. Our first child, Alexander, was born March 28, 2007. Becca is a math teacher, and a member of Alpha Phi. I am a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, where I was Vice President, Fraternity Educator, and chaired the Scholarship, Finance, Membership and Governing Committees. I was Student Senate President at AU.
This past summer I was back in Ohio, spending the summer as a Visiting Scholar at the Social Philosophy and Policy Center at Bowling Green State University. I used the time to turn my dissertation into a book. In the summer of 2009 I shall be back again, teaching in the Master's of American History and Government Program at Ashland.
