Kevin's Story
Life
It's another beautiful day in Paradise. Sure as hell wish I was there and not here. But being here is a sweet thing to be, so for that, I am thankful.
The previously mentioned brain surgery went without a hitch and next step is to see how feasible it would be to re-rout some nerves in my spine near my brain that have become pinched and then some more MRI's to find out if all of the work is going to be sucessful.
Getting old certainly sucks. Sure, there are some benefits to it, but what good does it do to know what to do, if your body simply will not allow one to do so?
Shot my 4th 300 game bowling and an 800 series, so I have not forgotten how to do that and now that I have reached an age where the temperment would allow me to pursue this for a living, the body is not up to the rigors that would entail. I am looking forward to 2006 to see if I can give this a shot before I lose the drive to do so.
Family life is normal, I guess, too many kids, having kids and moving back home. That's what I get for buying a house with more bed...Expand for more
rooms then we needed, but at least I got to write off the home office for two years. Now I'm relegated to the old dining room, but at least I can see the boob tube from here and watch the Cubs on TV. Cubs in '08 (Yeah, 1908).
I've a nephew who is a fine baseball player and it looks like he'll be getting a four-year ride to play ball to a 1-A college. It's odd, reliving youth through your children, grandchildren and nephews, but for some reason, it is also very relaxing. Never knew how much I enjoyed teaching and sharing with kids, specially those who WANT to learn. I know. Just like shooting fish in a barrel.
I am giving this life another 15 to 20 years, then it will be time to shut it down. Where the hell did the last fifteen years go so fast? Must have been the clean living. Guess that being drug free makes your clock run at the speed it was set when you were born.
Now, off to the kitchen for some Captain Morgan and Ice Cubes. Got to enjoy the peace and quiet while everyone else is gone.
Gotta go - Wishing you all the best.
