I moved from Latham in 1974 when I was 15 and just after 9th grade. We moved to Redwood City, CA and lived there for 1 yr. I attended Sequoia High School - beautiful campus. Had my first real job bagging groceries at Lucky Stores. Got kicked out of the house when I was almost 16 by my mom and stepfather kicked me out for partying too much with my older friends. Moved to France to live with my dad and his wife. Lived there for 2 years and became fluent in French. Loved it and haven't been back since. I still keep in touch with a friend I had there. Many of my friends in California, and from Melrose (I lived there during my childhood and most of my family lives there now) while I was in France. When I returned to the US, at the age of 18, my mom lived in Ann Arbor, MI. I attended Huron High School for 1 year, then went to Eastern Michigan University (EMU) for my undergrad which I got in Language and International Trade. After working for about 15 or so years, I decided to take advantage of a tuition reimbursement program where I worked and went back to EMU to get my Master's of Science in Information Management Systems. Shortly after completing that, thinking it would guarantee me future employment, I found my position was being eliminated due to cutbacks of the then and now current governor. Jobs are few and far between in Michigan, especially in my field. We decided to move to our summer home in Manistee, MI and see if we could make it there.
