Kim's Story

Life I saw some of you at the 20 year reunion and it was great to reconnect. But, for those who haven't seen me since the last reunion(1995), here's a brief rundown of life.I was 5 weeks pregnant at the time with my third child ( or so I thought) it turned out to be twins. I now have a 18yr old boy, 14 yr. old boy and 11 yr old twins- boy and girl. Between 1991 and 1995 I lived in Killeen,Texas and Augusta, Georgia. I moved back to Mich. in 1995 and remained there til my divorce in 1999. I now live in Kentucky and it's beautiful here. A nice small hometown atmosphere. I still love kids and have been working on and off since moving here. I worked for two years at the Christian School. I have been substitue teaching as kindergarten aide and special ed.for the past five years at our public elemenatary and middle schools. I ventured into the high school last year and spent 7 weeks working in the library, which allowed me to experience life from my oldest son's surroundings. I have been working in FMD classroom (special needs) since the beginning of the school year and was hired full time in January. Boy, high school has changed alot in 20 years. My children are in 12th, 9th, and 5th. Life is never dull. I remarried in October 2004 to a wonderful man who was willing to love not only me and my stubborness, but to take on the responsibility of four children who have very little contact or support from their father. For those of you who knew Eric Gipson (he graduated in 1986),we married in 1987 and divorced in 1990. He was Jordan's (my oldest) biological father and hadn't had contact with Jordan since 1991 when my then-husband adopted him: but Eric passed away in January of 2005. Life is very busy, but I love the challenges that come with raising four children. I now realize how hard it was for my parents to let go and let us grow up. I have shed many a tear already over the heartaches that children bring. But all the same I am very proud of all of them. ...Expand for more
They are my joy and what keeps me going when life throws the curve balls. I have a very strong faith and am very active in my church. All the kids play soccer. Jordan is the Varsity goal keeper, David plays JV and Katelyn and Jacob play Youth Soccer (the equivalent of AYSO).Katelyn has been cheerleading for two years and started piano lessons last year. Jordan got his license, a car, a job at McDonald's and a girlfriend, so he has no use for parents. LOL!! Thankfully, along with a new girlfriend came a newfound desire to get good grades. He maintained an A average this year. David is involved in beta club and makes straight A's (well almost, he got a B in art and just about died). He was in the Duke University Talent Search and took the ACT's. HE scored high and was honored for it at Western Kentucky University. Yes, I guess I am a proud mom. That's what I always wanted was to get married, settle down and have a bunch of kids. Although I didn't intend to be married more than once, the rest of the plan went well. I am raising four wonderful, but very strong -willed children. One day when they get out on their own that will and determination will serve them well and can become a positive trait; for now it gets them in a lot of trouble. P.S. I had a great time at the 2005 reunion, thanks to all of you who I know worked very hard at the last minute to make it an enjoyable evening. With four kids, we don't go out much and don't drink, so we don't get many opportunities to hang out somewhere where we can dance. I enjoyed being able to slow dance with my husband. The food was great!! I loved catching up with some of my old friends and had a fun time trying to figure out who everyone was. I thought everyone looked great, just some had changed more than others. Thanks once again for giving us an opportunity to reconnect. See you again !! Kim (Green) Carter contact me: bzymom4ever at aol or on MySpace search:bzymom4ever or Kim Carter
