Kim's Story
Who am I?
Kim Kaopuiki's the name....graduated in 1986 from Farrington High. I'd do anything to relive our Senior year in High School: it was challenging, but fun. Was a member of the select choir, TADA, and one of the wrestling managers too.
What have I been up to?
Right after high school, I went to HPU and earned my first degree (Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Minor: English). Later, earned a Master of Arts degree in Education Specializing in Special Education. Immediately entered a Doctorate in Educational Leadership program, but took a break because the program was a full time job in itself. While meeting my educational goals, I worked for Outrigger Hotels, Safari Tours, Lanakila Elementary, Drug-Free Hawaii, ALU LIKE, and Farrington High (Yep, I got to teach at our alma mater). I currently teach a bunch of SaSsY lItTlE bOsSy & EnErGeTiC kids who everyone just gotta LuV; at Ka'ewai Elementary. When they achieve....I achieve! When they learn, I learn! When they win, We AlL wIn!
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have patience, humor, and FaItH to be able to deal with the day-to-day challenges life deals us.
Many individuals impacted my life. Most of them have left us for now; but their spirit shines in my heart daily for they all gave me a piece of theirs'. First, my mom who brought me into this world...she had faith in all of us. My grandma was the tiniest, but strongest lady I've ever known. She always kept everything togeth...Expand for more
er and taught us everything from right to wrong. However, it's her FAITH & LOVE for God that she trusted and taught us that guides me day to day. She gave us the best FaMiLy ever! There are many more: My Uncle Marshall who cared for me always...I hardly ever get sick, but when I was little....he played my DOC on every occassion and kept me in check too. Aunty Hattie was always there to give me the FiNeR tHiNgS in life...for without her, I would've probably be deprived (hahaha)... and then there's my best friend, Danny; he did his own thing at work, took care of his own family, took the time to mentor my students whenever I asked, and still had time to check on me daily....He wasn't only one of Honolulu's Finest, he was one of God's Finest too!
I've only lived in one zip code: 96819! Never want to leave it either!
I would love to see Mr. Aweau again....because he was stuck with me for 2 years and for 2 periods (Chorus and Conversational Hawaiian)...that took a lot of patience you know??? Nah, he's just the bomb and gave soooo much of his heart to many.
If I got to do-over one experience, I wouldn't change a thing because it were those challenges, achievements, and faith in God; which made me strong enough to survive this LiFe!
I make it a point to click with everyone....I wouldn't want anyone to feel less than any one else!
Everyone always says I look the same, so I don't think there'd be any surprises. Plus, I get to see, chat, and talk to many classmates.
