Kas's Story
Life
After graduation I joined the Navy. Married in 74 & divorced in 82 (to Tom Bauer, another 72 grad)Our daughter, Danielle, is unmarried, lives in Ky. My 2nd husband, Milt, and I got together in 83 and have been happily ever aftering since then. I live 30 miles north of Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas and am working on a Ph.D. in psychology at UT-Arlington, over an hour ride each day. In addition to Dani, I have 4 stepchildren and 5 grands.
School
High school was not a time in my life that I would wish to return to. My life now is so different that it seems like HS happened to another person. Even though I am reaching that age when those around me are wishing they could turn back the clock, I would not return to that time in my life. In fact, I'm having way to much fun in the present to even think about it!
College
It took me 3 starts before I was able to finish a bachelors degree but I finally graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001 with a degree in psychology. I immediately began a PhD program and am currently involved in some very exciting research...that will...Expand for more
hopefully be used in my dissertation!!
Workplace
I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant(TA) here at UTA while I'm working on my graduate degree. I generally teach statistics or experimental psych. I have no inclination to go into academia when I graduate so this is a great experience for me. I find that I love teaching and I am enjoying the opportunity while it is available. And they pay me for it! Not much but the it does include free health insurance:)And since I am definitely a Type A personality I need to be overworked in order to keep myself from being bored!
Military
I joined the military to get an eduction...and get out of my little hometown! I loved a lot about the military but there were definite drawbacks and I would probably do it differently now...I'd go to college first then go in with a commission. I loved being stationed in Hawaii and could easily have lived there forever. To this day it is my image of the most perfect place on the planet. When I think of Hawii I think of Des, Auntie Dee, Kona coffee, fresh pineapple and lazy days on the beach.
