Kimberly's Story

During college I worked as a tour guide at Anheuser-Busch for 5 summers and as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. From 1992-94, I played volleyball at UNH. As a family studies major, I did interships in welfare, family mediation, crisis pregnancy counseling and as a parenting skills teacher in a homeless sheltor. I concluded that it is much easier to see real change in people when you are allowed to address the deeper heart issues at the root of the outward problems. To pursue this desire to see families made whole from the inside out, I got involved as a student leader and staff intern with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at UNH and met my husband to be, Bill, who is a mechanical engineer. He is gifted in teaching, voice and guitar and enjoys organic gardening. We married in 1998 and our motto is "newlyweds forever". In 1999, Bill and I along with a group of students traveled to Honduras on a short term service project to dig trenches to lay pvc pipe and bring fresh spring water to a small village after their water supply was destroyed from Hurricane Mitch. Since that time we have tried to steward our resources wisely to give to organizations like World Help and Orphans First that put the "least of these" first. When we returned from Honduras, I enrolled in Bible college full-time and we bought our first 4-unit property. Our first son was born in 2002. We bought our second 4-unit property, and a year later our daughter was born at home. We sold the first property, invested our profits, sold high, and renovated the second property, including our swimming pool, where I have taught swimming lessons from home in the warm months. At UNH I began as a Biochem. major and switched to family studies because I didn't want to spend years in a lab when I could read the abstracts in minutes. People in that major like Kevin Haigis, who gladly got his assignments done early, were made for that line of study. I quickly discovered that working directly with people, rather than chemicals, is more important to me. However, I really appreciate the work that such people do and my biochem. background helps me understand research in whole food nutrition and holistic health care. This interest began after my father died of a heart attack and my grandfather died of cancer when I was 23. In short through lifestyle and nutritional changes that have included fasting, I've seen complete healing from ailments such as arthritis, grinding and clicks in my left shoulder, athletic induced asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis, undiagnosed cancer, multiple miscarriages, depression, and postpartum anemia. My husband calls me his "kitchen chemist" as I often throw together recipes like an artist painting a canvas and no two are exactly alike. ting, we found out that due to bearing and nursing 5 children in 7 years that my body had been depleted and needed extra B12, Folic Acid, D3 and Iodine. This eliminated the non-iron anemia and my energy is back. With my health back and the support of my husband, I've been able pick up advanced rec. volleyball again, potty train three children and make progress on writing a book. However, we are far from picture perfect and could definately use a housekeeper and or adminstrator with so many little hands investigating their world around them. Thankfully, my better half doesn't judge the state of the house and often lends his helping hands. We currently enjoy serving in Next Level church. Over the years, as we've stepped out in faith trusting God's promises in the Bible, we been graced to be partakers of or witness to more than a handful of healings. One of these occured when I was pregnant with Charis and it was medically documented with tests. Bill's grandfather, Richard Corneau's kidneys had failed and we were called to pay our last visit to him in the ICU as he was given less than 24 hours to live. However, the next morning it was confirmed they had both started up back up after a short prayer of faith with the laying on of hands according to Mark 16:16-18 and James 5:15. He also recovered from his congestive heart failure and showed an ability to hear with out hearing aids as He confirmed his desire to us to reserve his place in heaven that day. With tears of joy in his eyes and an expression of thanks, he prayed with us to receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus' sacrifice for his (and our) sins on the cross. He was released from the Veteran's hospital and lived another 5 months. Truly the greatest of these miracles was how a man of 83 years of age, who had shook his fist in defiance of the good news of the gospel all his life, turned to receive it so sweetly. We look forward to seeing him again on the other side. To my astonishment, our son, Zachary, who is now 9 years old, loves to read the Harvard Classics in his "free" time. He's asked, "How soon 'till I can learn calculus?" For those of you who helped me through calculus in high school, please know the math brains come from my husband and not from me. Zachary (now in the 5th grade) wants to be a scientist and world traveller who shares God's love with others. Our 7 year old daughter, Charis, is in the 3nd grade. She enjoys "cooking" and painting. She says she would like to be a missionary or swimmer and is determined to be "Mama" to our TWINS, Silas and Elias. They were the 1st and 3rd babies of 2009 in the NH seacoast and won lots of cool prizes. Our newest addition, Jubilee, was delivered at home in July, 2010. She is our jubilant Jubilee and our easiest child yet. With joy, Kim (Adams) Tower
