Kimberly Roe:  

to get a job after graduating and stay there until I retired. Not only have I not done that, but I haven't even kept the same career! I started out as a software development engineer outside of Philadelphia. I liked the job, but I got bored with it as well, so when the opportunity came to move to Richmond, VA, I moved. I worked there for Circuit City, and I loved aspects of my job, but there was way too much politics and red tape, so when another opportunity came up for me to earn my teaching certification over the summer, I jumped at it. I began teaching at Stafford schools. I taught 7th graders in math and advanced math. I really enjoyed the classes and had a great first year. I became pregnant that year and so it was a nice bonding experience with the students. The next year, I was moved into math enrichment and I didn't like teaching the class and the administration didn't offer alot of support, so my love for the job diminished quickly. Teaching was also so time consuming. I originally began as a teacher because I wanted time with my family. I actually had less time! When the opportunity came up to move back to PA, I jumped at it. I'm now able to do programming without the politics, and I'm also doing other tasks, which I find fun. I purchase all the inventory for the stores as well as take care of many of the accounting tasks. I get to work on my time, which I love.
